Artist Statement - Cornell T. McGhee, Ed.D.

My name is Cornell T. McGhee, Ed.D. and I am a photographer in Richmond, Texas.  I specialize in work as a headshot photographer, portrait photographer, and event photographer.

As a headshot photographer, I pride myself in delivering corporate, executive, business, real estate, and personal headshots. My pricing is very reasonable for the quality of work provided.

As a portrait photographer, I specialize in personal portraits, family portraits, corporate and group portraits, and portraits for publication. My lighting formulas and techniques separate me from other photographers.

As an event photographer, I document your corporate events and parties, anniversary parties, birthday parties, sweet sixteen parties, and family reunions.

My photography is a way of expressing myself, showcasing my view of life through color and contrast. I draw inspiration from nature, emphasizing its impact on humanity and focusing on emotional resonance rather than commercial gain. On a professional level, I use my camera to uncover and showcase a person's true self, connecting with them and helping them see their own unique beauty.

Although my primary location is in Richmond, Texas, I provide photographic services throughout the entire greater Houston area from Katy to Sugar Land, and the Woodlands to Galveston including neighborhoods like Bellaire, Briar Forest, Cinco Ranch, Clear Lake, EADO, Eldridge, Fort Bend County, Brazoria County, Harris County, Montgomery County, Third Ward, Fifth Ward, Greatwood, River Oaks, Humble, Manvel, Needville, Pearland, Rosenberg, and New Territory.

Headshots

A professional headshot is a high-quality photograph, typically from the shoulders up, that uses good lighting, a clean background, and flattering angles to create a confident, authentic, and approachable image of a person for their personal or professional brand. Key elements include a strong connection with the camera, genuine expressions, quality technical execution (lighting, resolution, composition), and attire that is professional and non-distracting.

Portraits

The main elements of professional portrait photography are lighting, composition, and the subject's expression and pose. Other important elements include the background, the use of camera and lens choice, and post-processing techniques, all of which work together to create a compelling final image.

Glamour

The core elements of professional glamour photography are lighting, composition, and styling, which work together with expert posing and post-processing to create flattering, sophisticated images. Lighting highlights features, composition guides the viewer's eye, and styling (hair, makeup, wardrobe) creates the polished look, while posing and retouching are used to enhance the subject's natural beauty and fix minor imperfections.

Events

Professional event photography requires a blend of technical skill (equipment, lighting), strategic preparation (shot lists, venue scouting), artistic composition (framing, different shot types), and client-focused execution (capturing key people, brand elements, and a full story).

C. T. McGhee Photography Reviews

CT is wonderful to work with! He is easy to work with and very friendly. CT knew the proper lighting and effect I was going for. I was actually surprised he was able to produce photos even better than what I expected! I felt comfortable with him and in fact, I will be doing another photoshoot with him soon! He delivers quality photos, digitally and print. I was amazed with the prints he produced! He teaches courses in photography, and he pays attention to every detail. Love his work! Dr. Patel

I have shot with CT on 4+ different occasions and every time he’s been amazing! Extremely professional and respectful. He has very nice equipment that gives you high quality photos. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is on the fence on whether or not to shoot with him. Very high marks from me!! Positive Responsiveness, Quality, Professionalism Effua Jordan

I was chosen for a photography class to model in low light circumstances. Cornell is very personable and laid back. He introduced me to the other photographers, and it was a pleasant experience. I was present with another model, and we had a great time shooting. I would recommend him any day. K. Perez

He took my graduation photos, and everything looked amazing!! Pictures were beautiful, editing was perfect! S. Walker

Takes his time staging each shot perfectly. Easy to work with. Shows concern for clients and sensitive to what they want in the finished product. M. Arbuckle
